WICT UK is fit for a Princess

WICT UK played host to a very special guest this month, with Princess Beatrice making a surprise appearance at our Christmas event to celebrate a year of inspiring women.

The Princess, who is Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at the AI company, Afiniti, spoke to members about how the women in her life constantly inspire her.

“I’ve been very lucky to have some incredible female role models in my life,” she said. “Not only the ones in my family, but also the ones that I’ve been honoured to work with.”

She also talked about the need to trust in yourself – and admits it’s something she struggles with.

“We have to find another way, to find a new way to be [ourselves}, to be authentic - all those words which we all struggle with.

“I have imposter syndrome. I have it every single day. But I think it’s something that we have to strive to overcome. Find those mentors, find that little voice inside of you, remember that you are part of something much bigger than yourself. Strive for authentic, strong moments and you can be as sassy and strong as you like.”

Virgin Media CEO Lutz Schüler also spoke at the event at Virgin Media and Liberty Global’s HQ in Hammersmith, West London. He was followed by a panel of women entrepreneurs - Sarah Haran, founder and creative director of the luxury handbag retailer, Amanda Thomson, CEO and founder of the wine producer, Thomson Scott, and Theresa Coligan of the Coaching Project.
