WICT UK & Ireland launches new reverse mentoring pilot programme
We’re thrilled to share the launch of our Reverse Mentoring Trial, in which we’re pairing Executive Members with early career professionals in a unique opportunity for WICT UK members at all stages to expand their knowledge and skills. We’re now recruiting for mentors and mentees in the six-month pilot programme, launching in February 2024.
Our vision at WICT UK & Ireland is to support the career advancement of women working within the telecoms, media and technology industries – with our highly successful Mentor Connect programme as a key offering for our community. Through this initiative, we’ve seen members thrive as mentors and as mentees, cultivating new skills, confidence and personal development for both parties.
We are now extending this initiative to include reverse mentoring.
What is reverse mentoring and why take part?
Reverse mentoring is where an early-career professional mentors an established industry leader, either in the same or a different company. The pairing provides you with the opportunity to gain exposure to new technologies, trends and approaches, which may not be readerly accessible in your day-to-day work. Ultimately, this can help both mentors and mentees stay ahead of the curve and develop a broader skill set that is invaluable in today’s dynamic business environment.
How does the trial work?
We’re recruiting two reverse mentor pairings to participate in the trial between January and June 2024, with a minimum of four one-hour sessions. Our Mentorship Co-Chairs will provide discussion topics along your six-month journey.
Key dates for your diary
· January: Applications and recruiting opens
· End-January: Mentor and mentee pairings will be confirmed
· February: Trial commences, with support from our Mentoring Co-Chairs in goal-setting, identifying meeting topics, and providing support and feedback during your journey.
