Madalina Suceveanu appointed new President of WICT UK, with early success in extending Chapter into Ireland

WICT UK is delighted to welcome Liberty Global leader, Madalina Suceveanu to the role of Chapter President.

Madalina, Managing Director of Mobile & Cloud at Liberty Global, has been an ambassador for women in technology for many years. In 2017, she was recognised by Silicon Republic as one of the top 25 women technology leaders in the world.

Prior to joining Liberty Global in April 2023, Madalina held several senior leadership positions at Vodafone Group PLC, including CTO of the European Cluster, Turkey and Egypt, and CTO of Vodafone Ireland. She also served as CNO at Vodafone Germany from October 2021.

Madalina joined the WICT UK Board in March 2022. She is also a Director on Telenet’s Board of Directors and Wyre Board of Directors.

Madalina said: “I’m honoured to take the helm of WICT UK, continuing our purpose of inspiring, connecting and growing talent across the cable, telecom, media and broadcast industries and bringing together talented women from diverse backgrounds to help them reach their potential.

“I’m excited to work with the WICT team – here in the UK and globally – as we encourage personal growth and career development for women in our sector through this supportive network.”

Under Madalina’s leadership, WICT UK’s chapter successfully expanded into Ireland in May, offering members of the Irish telecoms and media industry access to events, mentorship and other benefits of WICT membership.

This was fulfilled with full support of the global WICT organisation and will be celebrated with a launch event in Dublin, scheduled for 28 September, with details to follow.

The chapter have onboarded its first Irish board member, Monika Nowak-Toporowicz, Chief Technology Information Officer of Virgin Media Ireland, who has joined WICT as Programming Co-Chair.

This has been achieved with support of the incumbent board and new joiners for 2023, Alexandra Reichl, Director of Mobile Strategy and Innovation at Liberty Global, who joined as Vice-President and Karen Langley, VP of Digital Strategy & Architecture, new Membership Co-Chair.

Alex said: “My role at Liberty Global allows me to lean into effecting change on a business level and I look forward to working with WICT to do the same at a more personal level for women across the industry”.

“Our UK & Ireland strategy for 2023 includes growing our membership, expanding our sponsorship partners and creating greater value to our members through mentoring programs and events.”
