May Pearls of Wisdom – Dare to Follow Your Convictions and Dreams
We are honoured to have Julia Immonen join us to share her story of rowing the Atlantic Ocean in a quest to tackle modern-day slavery. Julia is the charity founder and CEO of Sport for Freedom – creating unique sporting challenges in the UK and globally. Sport for Freedom unites through the positive power of community and sport to help bring freedom from human trafficking through education and rehabilitation. The charity was born out of Julia’s record-breaking achievement of rowing 3000 miles unaided across the Atlantic Ocean in just a 7-meter by 2-meter rowing boat from the Canaries to Barbados in 2011/12. Joined by four women, the Row for Freedom crew broke the record for the fastest women’s crossing and established a record for being the first female crew of 5 ever to row the Atlantic. Julia also became the first Finnish person to achieve the crossing. Julia has broken two Guinness World Records, been an Olympic 2012 Torchbearer and has become a published author & accomplished speaker.
There will be time for a Q&A after Julia speaks, and then networking over bubbles and canapes.
The theme for this event is Dare to follow your convictions and dreams and we just know that you’ll take inspiration and helpful tips for how you can make courageous steps to fulfil your potential. Don’t miss out!
