Julie Agnew, Executive Director of Construction & Delivery, Network Expansion at Virgin Media
Julie has worked in Telecommunications for almost 30 years, a strong operational and people leader driving change and transformation throughout various organisations.
Julie’s currently role in Virgin Media is Executive Director of Construction & Delivery for the Fibre Network expansion and build. She is responsible for delivering the largest infrastructure build programme sponsored by Liberty Global.
Prior to Julie’s role in Network Expansion, Virgin Media – Julie has held various leadership roles within Customer Contact Centres, Customer Care, Field Operations, Networks & Planning, HR and Business Division.
Prior to joining Virgin Media Julie held various positions as General Manager in a large outsource provider across multi-national customer accounts – responsible for P&L, Operational Delivery, Account Management and Customer Base Management.
In December 2018 Julie was appointed President of WICT UK and is passionate about ensuring WICT UK is an enabler for Women in our community and industry to be empowered and supported throughout their career.
In her spare time Julie enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and three dogs – as well as spending time holidaying in her favourite place – Greece.
Laurence Miall-d’Aout, VP Advanced Data and Advertising at Liberty Global
Laurence Miall-d’Aout joined Liberty Global in 2016 as VP Advanced Advertising, where she spearheads new data & advertising business models across the group. She was instrumental in launching the addressable TV product for Telenet and SBS in Belgium, and brokering the partnership deal between Sky Adsmart and Virgin Media in the UK.
Prior to Liberty Global, Laurence served as CEO of Tvbeat, the Total TV Audience company she co-founded.
Before that, Laurence gained over 15 years of broadcast and telecom industry experience including the establishment of MTG’s $100m PayTV business in Russia and CEE, the negotiation of MTG’s first cross media rights for ViaPlay (the “Netflix” of the North), as well as the development of the first half million TV customers to TalkTalk in the UK.
Laurence started her career with PwC and holds an MBA from INSEAD.
Glafira Usoltseva, Senior Finance Manager, Liberty Global Investments
Heading up with finance team managing Liberty Global’s minority investment portfolio. Glafira has been with Liberty Global for over 9 years in different finance roles.
She is a big supporter of Liberty Global’s graduate scheme and puts a lot of emphasis on developing and mentoring new talent.
Georgia Jones, Senior Legal Counsel at Virgin Media
Georgia Jones wants to live in a world where social connection and community brings about change. As a commercial media lawyer, she’s worked most recently at ITV and Vodafone and is currently delivering a great TV product to the UK at Virgin Media.
When she’s not negotiating content deals, Georgia is an accredited mediator with a background in psychotherapy and is building a charity to support the homeless.
Karen Casserly, Programme Director at Virgin Media
Karen started her career with Virgin Media in Edinburgh, embracing a variety of operational and programme delivery roles over the years. Karen is now Consumer Organisational and Operational Transformation Lead: leading and executing multiple, high profile organisational transformation and improvement programmes including merger & acquisition, integration projects and cultural change initiatives.
Karen manages the end-to-end lifecycle of business change and improvement initiatives, directing and supporting transition and change plans to meet key deliverables, whilst focusing on both the customer and employee experience.
Karen is passionate about developing and mentoring colleagues across the organisation, building and leading strong capable teams to deliver exceptional change and transformation programmes – considered experts in their field, with a finger on the pulse of customer challenges and innovative solutions.
Gilda Leicer Avila, Digital Journey Manager for Mobile CRO at Virgin Media
Gilda delivers digital change and optimisation that increase conversion of VM’s Mobile offering. With online being an important growing channel, she is passionate about bringing new ideas that deliver amazing experiences to our customers and help them in their journey to join VM Mobile.
With an engineering degree and over 18 years of experience working in IT, she started her career in the telecommunications industry in 2017. A supporter and believer of women’s success in a male dominated industry, her objective is to support women in becoming leaders and help transform the industry.
Ama Afrifa-Tchie, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Culture Trip
Ama has over 10 years’ professional experience within diversity and inclusion, employee engagement and wellbeing. She previously worked as the Employee Experience & Inclusion Lead at Cognizant. Prior to that she was Global LifeWorks & Inclusion Manager at Discovery Communications where she led the agenda for a balanced, flexible and healthy work environment in partnership with the Head of the International Division.
Ama’s prior positions include providing expertise to the International Talent Executive and Head of D&I and Learning Solutions for EMEA at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Before that Ama worked as a manager at Deloitte LLP, advising the Head of HR Client Services on how to incorporate diversity and inclusion into the firm-wide talent strategy.
Ama has an LLB in Law and a Master’s in Public Relations and Public Communications. She is a governor for the Boxing Academy, a trustee for Artswork, and a Fellow of the RSA (Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce). Ama’s interests includes travelling, fitness, outdoors activities, theatre and movies, and interior design. She is an avid foodie and loves spending time with family and friends.

Rebecca Pike, Director of External Communications and Digital Media at Liberty Global
Rebecca joined Liberty Global in 2016, with a remit to transform the way the company communicates through a variety of new and existing channels. She was previously a journalist and broadcaster with over 20 years’ experience at the BBC, most recently as Radio 2 Drivetime’s Business Presenter. She started on the show with Chris Evans and then worked on the show alongside Simon Mayo.
Rebecca joined the BBC through its prestigious News Trainee scheme and since then has worked on many programmes, such as Radio 4’s Today Programme, Newsnight on BBC 2, the main news bulletins on BBC 1, Breakfast News, the News Channel and BBC World News, as both presenter and reporter.
She started her journalism career at the Express and Star newspaper in Wolverhampton, before becoming a reporter on the Daily Telegraph. She read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Magdalen College, Oxford.

Claudia Beith, Graduate Research Analyst at Channel 4
Claudia began her career on the Channel 4 Graduate scheme in 2017, where she currently works in the Advertising Research & Development team. She specialises in youth research, running an online community of over 1,000 16-24s and driving commercially focused qualitative and quantitative audience insight.
Alongside her Graduate role, Claudia is studying for an MSc in Marketing at Birkbeck College, University of London. Her dissertation will critique the stereotyped portrayal of women in British television advertising through a qualitative analysis of gender bias. Prior to her MSc, Claudia read Geography at the University of Bristol. In her spare time, Claudia loves to plan her next adventure exploring world and spend time cooking for her family and friends down in Cornwall.
Tatiana Zakharova, Marketing Manager at DOLBY Europe
Tatiana is a Marketing Manager at DOLBY Europe, based in London, UK.
She got her BA in Linguistics from Far Eastern State University in Vladivostok, Russia, where she was born & raised. She got her MSc in Marketing from Brunel University, before eventually starting her career in TV Broadcasting.
Tatiana enjoys her job (she really does!) and when she is not brainstorming on the next best marketing campaign, she spend time planning her next trip, as the World is not enough! She loves the seaside, big hairy dogs and her friends would describe her as caring, contagiously motivating person and a pancake maker extraordinaire.
Tatiana joined WICT in 2016 as a member and now is stepping up as the Marketing & Comms co-Chair to encourage and support women in the Broadcasting industry and beyond.
Alexandra Pott, Director of Consumer Strategy, Planning and Transformation at Virgin Media
Alex has worked in Telecommunications for almost 10 years, and is currently the Director of Consumer Strategy, Planning and Transformation at Virgin Media.
Prior to joining Virgin Media, Alex has worked across the UK Telco industry in finance, M&A, Commercial and Entertainment, responsible for P&L, business integration, transaction valuation and change delivery. She was also a Senior Associate at PwC.
Alex is a Chartered Accountant, and has an LLB in Law. In her spare time, you can find Alex either on a desert island surrounded by diving, sailing and kite surfing kit, or on a netball court in London (usually with Dylan, her Mini Schnauzer netball mascot)!
Karen McKenzie, Director of Compliance and Construction Support at Virgin Media
Karen has worked in Telecommunications and the Services industry for over 20 years.
Karen joined Virgin Media In 2008 and is currently Director of Compliance and Construction support for the Network Expansion Programme for Virgin Media which is the largest UK expansion programme.
Karen held various leadership roles in Virgin Media prior to her current role across Planning, Collections and Billings, Shared Services, Customer Contact Centres and operational support functions.
Prior to joining Virgin Media, Karen was responsible for Financial Operations at One.Tel which included Customer Services, Collections, Billing and Strategy.
Karen has a track record of driving change and transformation at every opportunity and is passionate about developing people and leaders and encouraging women in all industries to achieve their personal and business goals.
In her spare time Karen loves to spend time with her family and friends and spends most of her weekends playing taxi service to her 2 children.
Tom Hurley, Head of Events and Creative Services at Liberty Global & Virgin Media
Tom leads the global shared services team delivering Events, Hospitality, Design and Film across Liberty Global and Virgin Media.
He joined Virgin Media in 2014 as Head of CEO Communications, where he partnered the CEO on internal communications and engagement activities, before establishing the internal Events team within Corporate Affairs in 2015.
Prior to this, Tom gained 15 years’ experience in the Retail and Financial Services sectors where he worked in Internal Communications, Investor Relations, Executive Support and Retail Management roles.
